The Belgian UFO Wave: Mystery in the Skies
Description
Script Vidéo
Belgium — famous for waffles, chocolate... and one of the strangest UFO waves in modern history. Between late 1989 and early 1990, hundreds of people reported seeing silent, triangular objects in the Belgian night sky. Tonight, we explore the sightings, radar reports, and official investigations. What really happened over Belgium?
Witnesses described huge, black triangles, often hovering silently or moving with sudden, impossible speed. Some said the objects were larger than a football field, with lights along the edges. One witness said: “It was like a triangle the size of a football field… and it made no sound.” Others reported jets scrambled to intercept, but the objects evaded radar and pilots effortlessly.
The wave was concentrated in southern Belgium, with multiple independent sightings at the same time. Police, civilians, and even military personnel reported these objects. Some photos were submitted, showing dark, triangular shapes consistent with witness descriptions. Radar operators occasionally confirmed unknown contacts matching the sightings.
Explanations vary. Misidentified aircraft or helicopters, weather phenomena, secret military tests, and hoaxes can explain some sightings. Yet, the combination of credible witnesses, radar data, and photographs makes the Belgian wave particularly compelling and hard to fully dismiss.
This wave had a major cultural impact, sparking investigations, documentaries, and international attention. Even decades later, researchers study it, debating whether the objects were earthly or something beyond our understanding.
Personally, I remain open-minded. Some sightings likely have ordinary explanations, but the patterns, the credibility of witnesses, and the persistence of the mystery make it fascinating. It reminds us how little we sometimes understand about the skies above.
