In 1941, a German battleship called the Bismarck was sunk by the British navy. Sailors spotted a cat floating in the water on a board. They pulled him out. Adopted him. Named him Oscar. One month later... their ship was also sunk. Oscar was found again. Floating. Alive. The British navy rescued him. Gave him a new ship. You can guess what happened next. That ship went down too. Three ships. Three sinkings. One cat. Zero deaths. By this point the crew was convinced Oscar was cursed. They called him Unsinkable Sam. The navy retired him from sea duty in 1942. Probably a smart move. He lived out the rest of his life on land, passing away in 1955. To this day nobody can explain how a cat survived three separate shipwrecks in the middle of World War Two. Some things just can't be sunk.
