**HOOK:** In World War II, one man accidentally captured an entire enemy army. **SCRIPT:** It's 1945, and the war in Europe is almost over. A French castle called Itter is holding important prisoners, including former prime ministers, generals, and politicians. But as Nazi Germany collapses, a rogue SS force decides to attack the castle and execute everyone inside. The prisoners are trapped. Then something unbelievable happens. American soldiers, Austrian resistance fighters, and even German Wehrmacht soldiers who had turned against Hitler join forces to defend the castle. They fight side by side against the SS. One of those German officers was Major Josef Gangl, who gave his life protecting the prisoners. After hours of intense fighting, American reinforcements arrive and the attackers surrender. The battle became known as the Battle of Castle Itter—one of the only times in history that American and German soldiers fought on the same side during World War II. A battle so strange, it sounds fictional—but it really happened.
