Embrace the Cattywampus: Life's Beautiful Imperfections
Description
Script Vidéo
Hey. So I learned a new word today. Well, old word. New to me. Cattywampus. Means crooked. Off-kilter. Not lined up right. Kind of a beautiful word, honestly. Feels like it should mean something worse than it does. Anyway. I built a shelf. Measured it twice. Leveled it. Hung it up, stood back, felt pretty good about myself. And it is, without question, cattywampus. Which got me thinking. Our whole childhood was cattywampus and nobody said a word about it. The antenna on top of the TV. Never straight. You'd get it just right, walk away, and somehow it would drift back to static and a prayer by the time you sat down. The training wheels on every bike we ever owned. One always higher than the other. Didn't matter. You rode it anyway, cattywampus and all, straight into a ditch, and got back up. The picture frames in every house growing up. Nobody ever fixed those. They just kind of existed at an angle. Permanently. Like it was load-bearing. And don't even get me started on the antenna, wait, I already did that one. See, that's the other thing about getting older. You start repeating yourself and you don't even notice until you're already halfway through the story again. But here's what I've noticed. Back then, cattywampus wasn't a problem. It was just Tuesday. Nobody called a professional. Nobody had a meltdown about it. You just lived around it, worked with it, and eventually you didn't even see it anymore. Maybe that's not the worst way to go through life. Some things don't need fixing. They just need accepting. So this shelf's staying exactly like it is. Little bit crooked. Little bit charming. Very on brand for me, honestly. Word of the day, cattywampus. Go find something in your life that qualifies. I guarantee you won't have to look far.
