The Woman Hanging Outside My Second-Floor Window
Description

If someone knocks on your bedroom window... from the second floor... never look outside." When I was thirteen, my bedroom was upstairs. One rainy night, around 2 a.m., I heard three slow knocks on my window. Tap... Tap... Tap... I froze. There was no balcony. No tree. Nothing anyone could stand on. I thought I was imagining it. Then it happened again. Tap... Tap... Tap... I pulled the curtain back just a little... There was a woman outside. She wasn't standing. She was hanging upside down... smiling at me. Her long black hair covered the glass like spider legs. I screamed and hid under my blanket. The knocking stopped. The next morning, I told my grandmother. She didn't look surprised. She grabbed my arm and whispered, "Whatever you do... never answer the third night." I asked why. She slowly looked toward my bedroom window and said, "Because the first two nights... she only wants to know if you're home. The third night... she comes inside."
