This isn’t a vampire… it’s a squid. It sounds impossible, but it’s completely real. Meet the vampire squid, a mysterious deep-sea animal that lives almost a kilometre beneath the ocean’s surface. Despite its scary name, it doesn’t hunt with giant teeth or drink blood. Instead, it feeds on tiny bits of drifting organic material, often called “marine snow.” Its dark red body, glowing blue eyes and webbed arms help it survive in one of the darkest places on Earth.
