LITTLE GIRL — whispering Please… Don’t wake her. [Pause.] [Sound: A distant metallic groan.] [Sound: A violent impact.] BANG. SCENE 2 — THE CASTLE GATES [Visual: Enormous iron gates explode inward. Dust and fragments of stone fly through the air.] NARRATOR The gates had remained sealed for one hundred years. No army had broken them. No fire had weakened them. No living creature had crossed the wall and returned. But on that night, beneath a moon hidden behind black clouds, the kingdom’s final knight forced his way inside. [Visual: A lone armored knight enters through the shattered doorway, sword drawn, cloak moving in the wind.] Behind him waited soldiers, priests, and nobles who had traveled from every corner of the realm. None followed. The old stories were clear. Only one hero could enter the sleeping castle. Only one could find the princess. And only one could wake her. SCENE 3 — THE ABANDONED HALLS [Visual: The knight walks through a vast corridor. Black vines cover the walls and ceiling.] NARRATOR The knight expected ruined chambers and the bones of those who had failed before him. Instead, the castle appeared untouched. Portraits still hung upon the walls. Silver plates remained arranged upon banquet tables. Fresh flowers stood in crystal vases. Yet no servants moved through the halls. No guards challenged him. No voices answered his footsteps. Only black vines twisted across the marble like veins beneath pale skin. [Sound: Armor footsteps echo.] [Visual: Blue flames burn in wall candles.] The candles burned with cold blue fire. Their flames did not flicker. They leaned toward him. Every one of them. As though the castle itself had noticed his arrival. SCENE 4 — THE CHILDREN’S FOOTSTEPS [Sound: Quick footsteps running somewhere ahead.] NARRATOR Then he heard children running. Not one child. Many. Bare feet struck the floor beyond the next corridor. A burst of laughter followed. Then silence. KNIGHT Who’s there? [Visual: He rounds the corner. The hallway is empty.] NARRATOR There was no one. Only a row of closed doors and a wooden toy horse resting in the middle of the floor. The knight approached it slowly. [Visual: Close-up of the toy horse turning slightly by itself.] The toy moved. Only once. As if an invisible hand had pushed it toward him. The knight stepped around it and continued. He had not come to chase ghosts. He had come to end a curse. SCENE 5 — THE THRONE ROOM [Visual: The knight pushes open two enormous doors.] NARRATOR At the end of the castle stood the throne room. Its ceiling rose higher than the forest trees outside. Torn banners hung above cracked statues. Black roses had grown across the throne. And at the center of the chamber, beneath a canopy of silver branches, lay the princess. [Visual: The sleeping princess rests upon an ornate bed surrounded by dark roses.] She had not aged.
