If I asked you, “What is the Gospel?” how would you answer? A lot of people think the Gospel is just about being a good person or going to church. But the Gospel is so much bigger than that. The Bible says that every one of us has sinned. We’ve all lied, been selfish, judged others, or chosen our own way instead of God’s. No matter who we are, we’ve all fallen short of His perfect standard. The problem is that sin separates us from God. And no amount of good deeds can erase it. We can’t earn our way back to Him. But here’s the incredible part. God didn’t leave us in that condition. Because of His great love for us, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world. Jesus lived the perfect, sinless life that none of us could live. Then He willingly went to the cross and took the punishment that our sins deserved. He died, was buried, and three days later, He rose from the dead, proving that sin and death had been defeated. That’s the Gospel. Not that we worked our way to God, but that God came to us. The Bible says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Think about that. Jesus already knew every mistake you would ever make. Every failure. Every moment you would fall. And He still chose the cross because His love for you was greater than your sin. The Gospel isn’t about becoming perfect before you come to God. It’s about coming to Jesus just as you are, turning away from your sin, putting your faith in Him, and allowing Him to transform your life. If you’ve ever felt like you’re too far gone or that God could never forgive you, remember this: Jesus didn’t come to save people who have it all together. He came to save sinners. And that’s why the Gospel is called the Good News.
