Surviving the War: A Dangerous Supply Mission
Description
Script Vidéo
The truck travels for hours along narrow roads crowded with soldiers, supply wagons, and families leaving their homes. At first, nobody speaks. Wei holds tightly to the side of the truck while Liang watches the countryside through the open back. The farther you travel, the more the landscape changes. Busy towns disappear. Farmhouses stand empty. Fields are silent, and smoke rises in the distance. Near sunset, the truck stops. Your unit has reached a temporary position behind the front line. Soldiers move between trenches, tents, and supply shelters while officers study maps beneath dim lanterns. A tired sergeant explains your assignment. Your group will carry food, medical supplies, radio batteries, and written orders to soldiers positioned beyond the hills. The main road is unsafe, so you must travel through the forest. That night, you sleep on the cold ground beside Wei and Liang. Wei looks at the stars and says they look exactly the same as they did above his family’s store. Then a distant explosion rolls across the hills. The ground trembles. The war is no longer something described on a map. It is close. Before sunrise, your group loads the supplies onto small carts and enters the forest. Tall trees block the morning light. Mud slows the wheels, and every sudden sound makes the soldiers stop. After an hour, the path divides. Heavy rain has washed away part of the route. The officer leading the group studies the map, but Liang notices fresh wheel marks on the lower trail. He is sent ahead to investigate. Minutes later, Liang returns with a warning. The lower road ends at a collapsed bridge. Following it would have trapped the entire group. The officer changes direction, and you continue along the higher path. By midday, the forest opens onto a rocky ridge overlooking a wide valley. Defensive positions stretch across the hills below. The officer orders everyone to move quickly. You and Wei push one of the supply carts into the open. Halfway across the valley, someone shouts a warning. An explosion strikes behind the group, throwing dirt into the air. Another lands closer. The cart tips over, and boxes fall into the mud. For a few seconds, fear keeps you pressed against the ground. Then you remember the soldiers waiting for the supplies. You crawl toward the cart. Wei reaches it from the other side, and Liang runs back to help. Together, you lift it, secure the boxes, and continue moving. By the time you reach the defensive position, your hands are shaking and your clothes are covered in mud. Soldiers rush forward. A medic takes the bandages. A radio operator grabs the batteries. An officer opens the sealed orders immediately. A soldier gives you water and thanks you. Only then do you understand that every box matters. Wars are not sustained only by soldiers at the front. They depend on food, medicine, information, transportation, and ordinary people willing to carry them through dangerous places. Your mission is complete. But before your group can leave, another officer approaches. A nearby unit has lost communication with headquarters. An urgent message must be carried through the valley before nightfall. The officer studies your group. Then he points toward you, Wei, and Liang. Your first mission is over. But the most dangerous part of the day is only beginning.
