This is not a movie scene. This was the terrifying reality for a young servant in the ancient city of Dothan. An entire enemy army, with thousands of horses and chariots, had marched through the night just to capture one man. The prophet Elisha.
When the young servant saw the massive army closing in, he panicked. He cried out, Oh, my master, what shall we do?
But Elisha did not flinch. He did not run. He simply looked at his trembling servant and said something completely irrational. Do not be afraid. For those who are with us are more than those who are with them.
The servant must have thought the prophet had lost his mind. It was just the two of them against an empire.
Then, Elisha prayed a single, powerful prayer. Lord, open his eyes, that he may see.
Instantly, the physical veil was torn away. The young man looked up at the mountains, and his breath caught in his throat. The hills were not empty. They were blazing with light. A massive, roaring army of horses and chariots of fire completely surrounded the enemy troops. Heaven had mobilized an elite spiritual guard, and they had been there the entire time.
Listen to me right now. You might feel completely surrounded today. Surrounded by anxiety, surrounded by debt, surrounded by sickness, or people who want to see you fail. Your physical eyes are telling you that you are outnumbered and out of options.
But the physical realm is only half the story. If God were to open your spiritual eyes today, you would see that you are not standing alone. The forces fighting for you are infinitely greater than the forces fighting against you. Heaven has already dispatched its guard.
Do not let what you see in the natural make you forget what is happening in the supernatural.
