I was leaving work at 11:47 PM when I stepped into the elevator. I pressed the lobby button. The doors closed. Then the elevator stopped on the seventh floor. The doors opened. Nobody was there. I pressed the lobby button again. The doors closed. Seven seconds later, they opened on the seventh floor again. I checked the buttons. The seventh-floor button wasn't lit. Then my phone buzzed. It was a text from my coworker. “Whatever happens, don't get off the elevator.” I typed back: “Why?” His response arrived immediately. “I just saw you enter the elevator.” I stared at the message. Then another text appeared. “I’m watching the security camera.” A third message followed. “There are two of you in there.” The elevator lights went out. And someone whispered beside my ear: “Which one do you think is real?”
