This looks like a desert filled with hundreds of blue lakes. But it isn't actually a desert. This is Lençóis Maranhenses in Brazil. Every rainy season, huge amounts of rain fall across these massive white sand dunes. The water collects between the dunes, creating thousands of temporary freshwater lagoons. Then, during the dry season, many of them disappear. So this impossible-looking landscape is constantly changing. A sea of white sand… filled with water. And it's completely real.
