Finishing touches for the guest room lounge! Ran into @Walgreens to grab my same day @TilePix order and some seasonal goodies for this room! No AC no problem. 🤪 Here's how we keep our off grid earth home cool in these hot months! 1. Thermal mass is number one and the materials our home is made with as well as being mostly underground do really well at keeping us cool! 2. The blinds are so important and we keep them mostly closed in the summer months. They block the sun and help keep the cool air in. 3. Standing fans are simple and we keep a few running to help move air! 4. Skylights! Hot air rises and we open them up to help keep the air moving and get a breeze. 5. Our little portable AC unit is obviously not comparable to HVAC, but it really helps in whatever room we have it running! It doesn't use too much power and we add water and ice packs to make it extra cool. 6. Even if it's really hot out, we keep all doors and windows open as the cross breeze really makes a difference! #earthship #earthshiptiktok #plantsoftiktok #offgridliving #offgrid
