Feeling all the emotions - my boy turns 2 in a few days. My God he brings so much light into my life. I wish I could show glimpses of this life to the scared version of me crying to my doctor wondering if he’d have Down syndrome. I was debating on posting this cause it breaks my heart all over again but I want to spread awareness - We were waiting for the paramedics to arrive to my house which felt like a lifetime. Also keep in mind Oliver has Down syndrome so his immune system is naturally weaker. Both him and my other toddler had croup - he was fine and okay all day just little bark like coughs here and there throughout the day. He was laid down in his crib for nighttime and typically I lay him in a playpen in our room when he’s sick to watch out for him but I was downstairs watching tv and was planning on bringing him in our room when I went up for bed. I heard him coughing and then it stopped but something told me just go to bed and grab him. I went right up to grab him from his crib and there was just this panicked look on his face like he was panicking to breathe so we called 911. They got to us and immediately gave him a steroid to open his airway and transported us to the hospital where they gave him another steroid and kept watch for a few hours. He ended up back in the hospital the following morning for another steroid treatment- come to find out Croup worsens at night and early morning! just very scary all around but my boy is so much better today 💙 It feels like my boy can’t catch a break with sicknesses I hate it #luckyfew💙💛 #croup #downsyndrome
