Bop, Rock & Flo

When I say my mom loved her grandbunnies, I mean it. When I told her I didn't want kids, she was fine with that. However, after I lost my first bunny, she spent 12 years insisting I get another bunny even though I didn't think I could go through the heartbreak again. I'm glad I did. She adored them. She spoiled them. When Bebop was going through her jaw surgeries, my mom made sure to help with whatever I couldn't cover. She loved Floor. In fact, when she held Floor, Floor just melted into her arms. My mom suffered a heart attack the day after Floor's surgery. I held my mom's hand while she was on a ventilator, and told her that Floor's surgery was a success. She passed away that evening, and my brother and I took care of her funeral and clearing out her place, while Floor was in a cone and needing extra help with everything. Her little surgical scar smile is bittersweet. It came at the hardest moment in my life, but it also reminds me there can still be happiness. I know my mom would have loved it.

My heart skipped a beat while finishing up the crossword puzzle today...I miss them both so much. All the brown and white bunnies in the Easter decorations remind me of them. I hope they are together, eternally snuggling and chasing each other. 🌈

Bonding has been a little counterproductive lately. They both seem interested in each other, but we're hitting a roadblock when it comes to deciding who the boss is. I think Floor is a little impatient with him, because he isn't picking up on her cues, and she ends up bopping him when he doesn't immediately groom her when she presents. He doesn't like being bopped, so he nips back. We decided to separate them completely, and reintroduce them in neutral territory, where they have had more productive dates. Floor was a little confused when I brought her to the living room and the pen and new guy were gone. She was searching everywhere for him, and moping around for a few hours. Eventually, I got her to perk up. She was happy to have extra room for zoomies.

She hadn't even grown into her ears yet! She was so little, but full of personality. She was a little ray of sunshine in the weeks after we lost Bebop, and Rocky was so excited to see her every morning when I let him out of the bedroom before they bonded.

**Spare me the unsolicited lectures in my comments - I KNOW - this is why the canopy STAYS ON 24/7 now** I thought Floor was a wild child, until this guy came along. Not only did he escape, he also tried to get back in - thankfully, the canopy stopped him. It is now permanently clipped on the pen until they are bonded. I can't wait to put the pen back in storage.

The toddler phase is exhausting 🫠 He just wants to climb into things he shouldn't, and keeps getting stuck.

She loves snow. I took her out earlier, and later on when I put my coat on again, she ran around me and oinked...so we went out again.

Sometimes, I see my sweet Rocksteady in the new boy. It's like he's saying hello through him, like when Floor learned how to stack cuppies like Bebop. No bunny will ever replace my precious sentient marshmallow, but I have learned that making room in my heart for another bunny that needs a home is far better than grieving without a bunny to fill the physical void and the silence they leave behind. Love you, Rocksteady. Always.🌈
