I hate social media. it has turned people into a bunch of sheep. They have put influencers on pedestals and will worship at the base of them. They have put people in positions of authority that shouldn't be in positions of authority. They listen to people who have no background or basis in the knowledge that they are projecting and sharing. they have put people who do have the knowledge and authority and credentials in a position where they are not important and are not trusted. This is a frightening time in America and a lot of people are going to be hurr and a lot of damage is going to be done. 5 years. from now we're going to see a lot of damage and a lot of sick people and there is nothing that we can do because no one's going to listen.

Replying to @laurelbaysaA little price breakdown of the Rollins $3 meal deal. The 'upfront' cost to even start this meal is over $11. Telling someone living on the margins that they can eat for $3 is technically 'simulation math,' but it’s not 'grocery store math.' As a dietitian, it’s frustrating to see 'affordable' advice that ignores the actual cost of entry. And again—the choice of a tortilla as the 'budget' filler? It feels like we’re being told to settle for the bare minimum while prices continue to climb. 📉 What’s the price of chicken near you? Because it definitely isn’t 2019 anymore."

Hey! Did you see that video of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins talking about grocery prices? I had to share this because it’s been weighing on my mind and the internet is (rightfully) losing it. Basically, she was on NewsNation claiming that the USDA ran "simulations" showing you can eat a healthy meal for just $3. Her example of a balanced dinner? "A piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, a corn tortilla, and one other thing." It honestly feels like a total "Let them eat cake" moment for 2026. Here’s why it’s hitting so many of us the wrong way: The "Portion" Problem: Describing a meal as "a piece" of this and that sounds more like a snack than a dinner for someone working a 40-hour week or a kid who's growing. The Racial/Cultural Subtext: This is the part that feels really pointed. Using a corn tortilla—which is a huge cultural staple for Latino and many lower-income communities—as the "budget" filler feels super out of touch. It’s like the government is pointing to a specific culture’s food and saying, "Just make do with the bare minimum." The Marie Antoinette Vibe: While she's talking about $8 eggs not "economically hurting" her personally, she's telling families who are hurting to eat a single tortilla. It just feels like a massive disconnect between leadership and the reality of the checkout line. It’s one thing to give budget tips, but it’s another to act like a tortilla and a scrap of broccoli is a solution to inflation. It feels less like help and more like an insult to people already doing their best to survive. What do you think? Am I overreacting, or was that totally tone-deaf? 🌯🥦 #BrookeRollins #USDA #CostOfLiving #FoodJustice #LetThemEatCake

As we head into 2026, it’s time for a collective "unfollow" on the wellness trends that prioritised aesthetic over actual health. We’re officially over the era of extreme restriction and unqualified advice. Here are the social media mainstays we are leaving behind in 2025: 🥩 The Carnivore & "Lion" Diets It’s time to stop acting like a head of broccoli is a biological weapon. While the "all-meat" lifestyle gained massive traction for its shock value, 2025 exposed the reality: it's an unsustainable, fiber-free nightmare that ignores decades of cardiovascular research. We’re leaving the "anti-seed-oil" hysteria and the beef-and-butter-only bowls in the past in favor of diets that actually include, you know, plants. 🍋 "Detoxes" and "Cleanses" Unless you’re referring to a digital detox, we’re done. The idea that a $15 charcoal lemonade or a "liver-cleansing" tea can do what your kidneys and liver already do for free is the ultimate marketing scam. Let’s leave the "flushing out toxins" narrative to the history books and focus on supporting our organs with hydration and rest instead of expensive juices. 🥼 Doctors Without Nutrition Training Just because someone has "Dr." in their handle doesn't mean they are an expert in what goes on your plate. In 2025, we saw a rise in specialists (from dentists to pharmacists to chiropractors) giving "definitive" nutrition advice that contradicts established science. In 2026, we’re checking credentials and if they aren't a Registered Dietitian (RD) or a physician with specific, evidence-based nutrition training, we’re taking their "life-changing" grocery hauls with a massive grain of salt. 🥣 Cottage Cheese and protein... In Everything We get it...t’s high in protein. But the "cottage cheese flatbread," "cottage cheese ice cream," and "cottage cheese cookie dough" have officially jumped the shark. There is a limit to how many things we can blend into a lumpy, tangy paste before we admit we just want a real cookie. I don't even like cottage cheese. And let's talk about protein in everything from water to peanut butter. you don't need as much protein as the wellness influencer is telling you that you need. 🤳 The "Everything" Wellness Influencer The era of the "unqualified life coach" is closing. We are tired of influencers who lecture from their million dollar homestead about "hormone balancing" and "gut health protocols". Wellness isn't a 10 step routine featuring $400 of supplements; it’s a nuanced, personal practice. We’re unfollowing the "optimization" obsession and the influencers who treat health like a competitive sport. #nutritionfacts #nutritionistsoftiktok #dietitiansoftiktok #nutritionmisinformation

Here’s a very real “Things that piss me off as a dietitian” list—professional but painfully accurate: “Nutrition is just common sense.” Cool, then why is metabolic disease exploding? People confusing correlation with causation Especially when it’s used to demonize one food or nutrient. Wellness influencers cosplaying as clinicians Zero biochem background, 10 million opinions. Fear-mongering food lists Turning eating into anxiety instead of nourishment. People thinking supplements replace food—or vice versa FINALLY….. Seeing nutrition reduced to trends instead of physiology Especially in kids and vulnerable populations.

For my fellow palm colored people clutching their pearls about Bad Bunny and the Super Bowl. This is Bad Bunny. Watch SNL tonight. He’s hosting, not the musical guest. Get to know him. He’s hilarious. Then listen to his music. Enjoy! #badbunny #superbowl
