"it's literally not that deep" I despise generative AI, with genuinely my soul, I am aware i hold a bias against it inherently as I am an artist so the issue is personal to me. Even so I do not believe any individual can make a justifiable reason why generative ai use in the humanities and arts is warranted, I'm so sick and tired of arguments that it makes art accessible, art is accessible. Anyone can make art, people have been doing it since the dawn of human civilization, art comes from the soul it is a manifested expression of an individuals thoughts , emotions, experiences and intentions, it connects us to each other, helps us as people communicate across language barriers, through music, writing, visual arts, film, performative arts, weaving, pottery, architecture, folktales and verbal traditions, and so much more. people who truely desire and want to create do so, they find a way. Wanting to cut corners because one feels like they don't possess the technical skills to create what they have in mind immediately, isn't art being inaccessible, technical skills do not inherently make meaningful art, they can and are often learn or used but there not nessesary. Ai provides shortcuts to cut corners and in return the product it spits out is lifeless and shallow. It lacks the intentional compositional choices, that bleed purpose into a creation and are influenced, even subconsciously by our own experiences that a computer program cannot replicate. Even as ai art or animation technically looks to be realistic or improved it remains a vacant state like a city street that is too clean with no people no sound no life. A dick drawing on a napkin for shits and giggles has more significance and intention than it. And yes there are nuances to the use of artificial intelligence that you can argue. That it increases efficiency and productivity or aids in improved decision making for complex problems. But no matter what potential positives it might have for specific individuals or corporations, with where we stand right now, where there are no regulations on ai usage, and there are masses of people using programs such as chat gbt for inconsequential reasons, negates any positive use ai could potentially have in scientific or mathematical fields. The horrific effect that artificial intelligence has on our environment and resources we need to live from its processing centers completely outweighs any positive it could have at this time with the lack of regulations in place. anyway hehe haha friend that's too woke
