A hair serum with caffeine can increase blood flow to the scalp and improve hair growth. Ketoconazole anti dandruff shampoos like Nizoral may improve hair loss in androgenic alopecia (male and female pattern baldness) and Seborrheic dermatitis by decreasing fungus and blocking DHT. Massage into scalp for 100 seconds and let sit for 5 minutes prior to rinsing. Can repeat 1-2 times/week. There are many different types of hair loss, so while these hacks may work for most common types of hair loss, it won’t work for all types. Are you using any of these Dermatologist tips? Hibiclens (chlorhexidine) is an antimicrobial soap that surgeons use to wash before surgery. It’s great for killing most pathogens but don’t get in eyes or ears. Eczema is prone to infection and a common derm trick is to recommend bleach baths (1/4-1/2 cup bleach in a full bath) to prevent infections. Just like the armpits, you can apply alluminium chloride antiperspirant to the bottom of the feet to decrease foot sweating. Should you use your skin care morning or night? Most skincare ingredients are ok to use morning or night. Vitamin C is best to use in the morning to get the most from its antioxidant effects. Retinol and other retinoids make your skin sensitive to the sun and so best used at night. Same thing for glycolic acid and (for some people) salicylic acid. Of course this is dependent on what time of year it is and what the UV index is where you live. Some people can tolerate using glycolic acid or salicylic acid during the day but just wear sunscreen Follow if you get confused about when to use skin care products #skincare #skincareroutine #dermatologist #morningroutine #eveningroutine
Do you or someone you know get ingrown hairs in the beard area? 🧔♂️ Pseudofolliculitis barbae is a common condition caused by shaving and ingrown hairs. Permanent hair removal (eg laser or electrolysis) or growing out a beard are the only cures, but it can be managed by the following tips. Shaving with an electric hair clipper daily is preferred and when using razor blades chose a single blade over multiple blade razors. Washing with benzoyl peroxide can reduce inflammation and glycolic acid exfoliation helps unblock the follicle. For more information check out this article PMID: 31354326. Have warts on your feet? Try this hack. To treat stubborn plantar warts, soak warts for 10-15 minutes every day in a hot water foot bath until resolved. The water should be 110 degress F (43-44 degrees C), but not hotter to avoid blisters or burns. It's best to use a foot bath with a thermometer in order to avoid burns.
