The International Volunteer Day was commemorated with a dignified ceremony at the Balochistan Youth Resource Center (BYRC) in Quetta. A fitting tribute to the spirit of volunteerism and an opportunity to honor the invaluable service of volunteers. The event commenced with a recitation of the Holy Qur’an followed by the national anthem. The occasion was jointly organized by the Directorate of Youth Affairs Balochistan, the Liaison Corporation, and the Chiragh Educational Welfare Society. The gathering was attended by the focal-person of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Balochistan, Syed Shahmeer, as well as many volunteers and young people. During his address, the Chief Executive Officer of Chiragh Educational Welfare Society, Izat Ullah, emphasized that volunteers are a cornerstone of positive change in society and that selfless service strengthens social harmony, builds mutual trust, and reinforces human bonds. Health Coordinator Ms. Bushra Rafiq opened her remarks with a verse of poetry, underlining that real progress in a community is only possible when individuals think beyond themselves and care for others. A key part of the event was a “stand-up” activity during which participants shared their own experiences of volunteering and the personal impact of their service. In his remarks, Syed Shahmeer noted that events like this help rekindle the spirit of service among youth and motivate them to engage in social welfare work. The ceremony concluded with a cake-cutting.
