here’s the 411 from Culxtured co-founder @bren_hucks …. In Paralympic snowboard, athletes compete in three sport classes based on how their impairment impacts riding: Upper Limb (SB-UL) Athletes with an upper limb impairment (such as arm deficiency or impaired function in one or both arms). They ride standing and the classification reflects how arm function affects balance, starts, and maneuvering. Lower Limb 1 (SB-LL1) Athletes with a more significant lower limb impairment (for example, above-knee amputation or comparable impact on both legs). These riders compete standing, often using prosthetics, and the classification accounts for greater impact on stability and power. Lower Limb 2 (SB-LL2) Athletes with a less severe lower limb impairment (such as below-knee amputation or milder functional limitations in one or both legs). They also compete standing, but with comparatively more lower limb function than LL1. At the Paralympic Winter Games, men’s events are typically contested separately in SB-UL, SB-LL1, and SB-LL2. However, in the women’s events, there is currently only one lower limb medal event. That means SB-LL1 and SB-LL2 women compete together in a combined classification (LL1 + LL2). ever wonder how visually impaired athletes shoot in para biathlon? Athletes use air rifles fitted with electronic sensors instead of standard iron sights. The system detects how close the rifle is to the center of the target. The rifle is connected to headphones. As the aim moves closer to the bullseye, the sound pitch gets higher. When the tone is at its highest frequency, the rifle is aligned with the center. Athletes learn to interpret tiny pitch changes to fine-tune their aim before pulling the trigger. #webuildCULXTURE #paralympics #biathlon
