Yesterday was a tough day. I knew within the first mile of the race that my goal time was going to be tough to get with the heat & humidity. It was supposed to stay in the 50s with overcast.. which was already too warm for my liking anyways, but it actually turned out to be sunny and upper 60s. My warmest training run was 46 😅 after 18 miles of pushing and LOTS of hills, my legs just gave out. I’ve never cramped up before mid run and truly didn’t even expect it. My body was so depleted.. I was covered in salt and had nothing left to give. I text my husband and asked if I could quit. He reminded me to just finish and that it was OKAY if I didn’t hit my goal. None of this was a reflection of my fitness or capabilities. I’m so proud of myself for crossing the finish line and finishing 12th out of 589 females! #marathon #run #running #runner #runtok @FlipBelt @Nike @Little Rock Marathon
Here is the reality of running. Not every single race day does how you want it and that’s OKAY! I was so bummed when I started cramping up. I knew my body was waving its flag. I tried to push, but my quads were in knots. I have been training in 20-40 degree temps and this heat just took me out. I am not someone that performs well in the heat. I’ve always known that about myself. I’m happy with this effort and even more proud of myself for forcing myself to get to the finish line! Will I try to qualify again? Maybe 🤷🏼♀️ maybe not. Another spicy arm day on deck! I took a minute rest between each superset today! I finished in 29 mins! This is the perfect workout when you don’t have a ton of time or equipment. My arms will definitely be sore from this one! On the finisher, move fast and try to get at least 2 full rounds.
