The United States has tightened visa rules for Ugandan nationals, introducing a refundable visa bond of up to $15,000 for some travelers and temporarily pausing the issuance of immigrant visas, US officials said. Speaking in Kampala, the US Ambassador to Uganda, William W. Popp, said the measures are part of Washington’s efforts to enforce immigration laws and strengthen national security. Under the new rules, Ugandans applying for B-1/B-2 tourist and business visas may be required to post a refundable bond before a visa is issued. US officials said the bond will be returned to travelers who comply with visa conditions, including leaving the country on time. The policy is part of a broader US visa bond programme that also affects nationals of several other countries, including Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania and Cameroon.#DWAfrica #tiktok
