Wear this to work tomorrow — your new go-to work uniform. Start with jeans and your favorite blazer, but instead of wearing it normally, we’re turning it into a top. Here’s the formula: Wrap the blazer around you, cinch it with a belt at your waist (tuck the belt under if it’s too long), and suddenly you have a waist-accentuated top instead of just a blazer. For shoes, I went with chunky loafers to add a little edge, plus gray socks for that extra styling detail. That’s it. Simple, chic, uses what you already own. As a stylist, this is what I mean when I say you don’t need more clothes — you need new ways to style what you have. Want personalized help creating easy work outfit formulas like this? Stop overthinking your outfits. Here’s the truth: the simplest outfits always get the most compliments. Part 3 of reimagining your closet staples. As a stylist, I break down fashion into simple structure and strategy so you can dress effortlessly chic without overcomplicating. This is what I work on with my 1:1 clients — reimagining closet staples so you can create new outfits without constantly shopping. DM me if you’re interested in personal styling. Today I’m focusing on one of my all-time favorite classics: the turtleneck. No groundbreaking ideas here — just a little nudge to try out the classics before you go shopping for trendy items. Here are 5 ways to style a turtleneck: 1. Layer it — under a shirt for preppy polish, or under a crew neck sweater for extra warmth and texture. 2. Simple with jeans and a belt — total 90s vibe. Black turtleneck, your favorite jeans, a belt to define your waist. 3. Black turtleneck with white trousers — another 90s minimalism classic. Clean, sharp, effortlessly chic. 4. Pair with a statement skirt or pant — a turtleneck grounds a striking piece and lets it shine. 5. Try sleeveless or short-sleeve — as we’re moving towards spring, this is extremely chic and seasonally appropriate. Save this and follow for Part 4 🤍 #turtleneckoutfit #closetstaples #capsulewardrobe #sustainablefashion #wardrobestyling
Wanna be the office cool girl? Get yourself barrel leg trousers. They’re a modern update to your regular work pants—and way more versatile than you think. Here are 5 ways to style them: Fitted turtleneck with kitten heels. Cropped jacket and flats. Classic shirt tucked in with pointy-toe heels. Cardigan and loafers. Or an oversized sweater with slim ankle boots. One pair of pants, five completely different vibes. Which one are you trying first? Let me know in the comments. #barrellegtrousers #workoutfit #officeoutfit #workwear #businesscasual
Do you love simple, classic outfits but feel like something’s missing — a little edge? The best way to quickly add edge to an outfit? Your bag. I love the modern, funky shape of this one, and something a little oversized. That little bit of edge an outfit like this needs. This is from a brand called Marais, and honestly, it’s so cool — the owner just quit her corporate job to start her own brand and just dropped her first bag collection. I love it. Check out @Lau to see it! I love a simple classic look like this — some trousers and a top — but this keeps it modern, adds that little edge, keeps it from looking boring. Makes it interesting. If you want more tips on adding edge to classic outfits, go check out my three forces of cool series 🤍 #classicstyle #outfitformula #edgystyle #leatherbag #simpleoutfit

Why do some outfits look cool and others don’t? And how do you achieve that with your own closet? Cool isn’t a personality trait reserved for “cool girls.” There’s actually a simple formula, and I’m going to show you how to apply it. When an outfit looks cool, it’s usually because three forces are working together: class, edge, and ease. CLASS — what makes an outfit feel polished, timeless, and put-together. Think: tailored blazers, classic white shirts, ballet flats, straight leg jeans. EDGE — what gives it tension, modernity, or something unexpected. Fun sunglasses, chunky boots, modern bags, trendier denim, contrasting textures. You don’t need leather and studs — edge comes in many forms. (This is often the trickiest, so let me know if you want a dedicated video!) EASE — what keeps it from feeling try-hard and makes it wearable. Oversized tees, half-unbuttoned blouses, messy hair, hoodies, baggy jeans. This is vital in keeping edgy items from looking forced and classic items from looking boring. The goal isn’t to max out all three or balance them equally — it’s finding what works for you, your life, and your style. And once you know the system, you can break it intentionally. As a stylist, I work with clients to identify which force they’re naturally drawn to and which one they’re missing. Want help figuring out your three forces? DM me “FORCES” and we’ll chat! Which force would you like me to break down first — class, edge, or ease? Let me know 🤍 #threeforces #classicstyle #effortlessstyle #cooloutfit #chicstyle
Monochrome outfits—how to keep them from looking flat and one-dimensional. Let’s break down this full navy look. Three notes: First: Proportion. Barrel leg jeans for volume on bottom, tailored hourglass blazer on top. You’re creating an intentional silhouette. Second: Texture and layering. Denim, soft knit, leather accessories. Mixing different materials catches light differently—that’s what creates depth even in one color. Third: Balance what I like to call the three forces of cool. Every cool outfit needs class, edge, and ease working together. The jacket brings class—polished and timeless. The barrel jeans add ease—that relaxed, effortless silhouette. And the bag gives you edge—modern, interesting details. When these three forces are balanced, monochrome doesn’t just work—it looks effortlessly cool. As a stylist, I love breaking down fashion into simple structure and strategy—so you can dress effortlessly chic without overcomplicating. Interested in personal styling sessions? Are you a neutral girlie who would love to add more color — but whenever you buy anything colorful, you never reach for it? It feels too harsh and ends up collecting dust in your closet? Here are 3 strategies to add color using the Tibi color wheel. Most of us neutral girlies live in Ring 1 and 2 — blacks, whites, maybe a little grey or navy for “color.” Method 1: The jump most of us try first is straight to Ring 4 → neutral + pop of bold color. Can be really cool, but often feels harsh. Method 2: Instead, try adding colors from Ring 3 that feel more harmonious with the neutrals you’re already comfortable with. Think muted tones, softer colors that bridge the gap. Method 3: Soften up your neutrals. Instead of stark black and white, dip your toe in softer greys and navies when adding in bolder colors from Ring 3 or 4. Seems like a big step for a neutral girlie, but it actually softens the overall look. As a stylist, this is what I help clients do — expand your color palette in a way that feels like you. DM me if you want help with this! #neutralstyle #colortheory #tibicolorwheel #neutralwardrobe #colorfuloutfit
Wanna be the office cool girl? Tip from a former corporate girl turned stylist: stop reaching for the oversized blazer. Switch it for something with a little more personality. A lady jacket. A cropped blazer. A sleeveless blazer. A jacket with actual shape. A mandarin jacket. Same polished vibe, way more interesting. Are you gonna give it a go? Why do some outfits look so cool — and others don’t? What if there’s a simple formula you can learn and apply to your own closet? When you break down what we intuitively call “cool,” it’s actually a balance of three forces: class, edge, and ease. What I like to call the three forces of cool. CLASS makes an outfit feel timeless, polished, and put-together. Think: a tailored blazer, classic loafer, silk blouse, elegant trousers, or a classic straight jean. It’s what grounds an outfit and makes it feel intentional. EDGE is what keeps it interesting and modern. This could look like a sculptural bag, funky sunglasses, trendy shape of denim, an edgy leather jacket, or a quirky brooche. You don’t need leather and studs — edge comes in many forms: modern shapes, unexpected details, whimsy, quirkiness. EASE is that effortless factor — what keeps it from feeling try-hard. This could be a baggy sweatshirt, a half-unbuttoned shirt, an oversized tee, a big casual bag, or undone hair. It’s the relaxed, comfortable, casual element. Most outfits feel “off” because one force is missing. Too much class without edge? Boring. Too much edge without ease? Forced. Too much ease without class? Sloppy. The goal isn’t to balance them evenly — it’s finding what works for YOU, your life, and your style. Cool isn’t reserved for “cool people” — it’s learnable. As a stylist, this is exactly what I help my 1:1 clients do: build cool outfits that actually feel like them. Want some help finding your cool? Here’s the styling formula behind why it works — not just where I bought it. The secret? Balancing class, edge, and ease — my three forces of cool framework. This look breaks down like this: the short lady jacket and ballet flats bring timeless polish (class). The tulip barrel leg trousers add modern shape, and that velvet texture creates visual interest (edge). The white tee grounds everything with relaxed, effortless energy (ease). Notice how edge isn’t just one statement piece — it’s the combination of contemporary silhouette plus unexpected texture working together. When you balance all three forces, outfits feel “right” without anyone being able to pinpoint exactly why. That’s the magic of understanding the formula instead of just copying looks. This breakdown is what I walk through with every styling client — learning to see the balance so you can recreate it with your own closet. Want personalized help applying this to your wardrobe? Stylish people all understand this one rule and they’re not telling you: a cool outfit doesn’t come together by chance — there’s a formula you can apply too. Every outfit that looks effortlessly cool has class, edge, and ease, or what I like to call the three forces of cool. Together they create a multi-dimensional outfit that we intuitively describe as “cool.” When one of these forces is missing, outfits feel off or flat. That’s why buying every specific item your favorite influencer is wearing doesn’t work — you’re copying the pieces, not the logic. Let’s look at examples: Relaxed jeans and sneakers paired with a timeless wool coat adds class and keeps it from looking sloppy. A classic coat with dainty loafers stays polished, but a relaxed sweater, undone hair, sunglasses and modern bag add ease and edge. Silk trousers are elegant but dressed down with a relaxed tee and draped sweater for ease, while a suede jacket adds edgy contrast. Classic outfit with animal print shoes for edge and relaxed jeans for ease. Relaxed sweater and tee with feminine knee boots balance edgy bermuda shorts without trying too hard. White tee and relaxed pants stay polished with classic loafers and modern accessories. Matching suit feels less corporate with oversized proportions and modern shoes. Stop copying outfits and start copying balance — your closet suddenly works harder. As a stylist, this is what I do in 1:1 sessions: figure out which force you’re missing and build outfits with what you own. DM me if you’re ready to unlock your wardrobe. Number one mistake I see as a personal stylist: you wear the same outfit over and over, get bored, and then feel like you need to shop. Stop. You don’t need more clothes — you need new ways to style what you already own. Here are 5 ways to style your favorite blazer: (1) Start with a simple tee and blazer, then tie a sweater around your shoulders or waist for waist definition. (2) Layer a cardigan over your tee, button just the top buttons so it peeks out, then add your blazer over that. (3) Tie a silk scarf around your waist instead of your neck for a twist. (4) Layer over a turtleneck on its own or add a belt to cinch your waist — you can also wear it with nothing underneath for an evening look. (5) Use a brooch to pin up the collar and create a funnel neck (anyone know where to find minimalist brooches? Drop links!). Part 1 of my closet staples series. Save your money, unlock your wardrobe. Wear this to work tomorrow — I promise it’s foolproof. As an ex-consultant turned stylist, this is my go-to office outfit formula: The base: Black turtleneck + black trousers The layer: White shirt over the turtleneck, tucked in and cinched with a belt That’s it. You’re done. Want to customize it? • More casual? Swap trousers for jeans • Bored of white? Try a charcoal or black shirt instead • Office too hot? Swap the turtleneck for a white tank One formula, endless variations. This is how you build a work wardrobe that actually works instead of staring at your closet every morning wondering what to wear. As a stylist, this is the kind of simple, repeatable formula I give clients who need to look polished without overthinking it. Save this and try it tomorrow — then let me know how many compliments you get 🤍 #workoutfit #officeoutfit #businesscasual #winteroutfit #simpleoutfit
Do you pack away half your closet when it gets cold and categorize items as “winter” or “summer” clothes? Stop that. The most stylish people I know find different ways to style their items all year round. Part 2 of reimagining your closet staples: 5 ways to style a white button-down shirt for winter. Here’s how: (1) Layer over a turtleneck for a warm, insulating layer — cashmere or merino wool works great. (2) Classic shirt and blazer but make it interesting — pull the sleeves through, add a vintage tie for personality. (3) Style with sleeveless sweater vests — classic or go for special sleeves, ruffles, silk details. (4) Try a sleeveless blazer — it’s the big sister of the sweater vest and instantly elevates the look. (5) Layer under a sweater or drape it over your shoulders — perfect for unpredictable office temperatures. Same white shirt you already own, 5 completely different winter outfits. As a stylist, this is how I help clients get more mileage from their wardrobe without buying new things. I dare you to wear it 5 different ways this week. Want to know the styling secret that makes simple outfits look expensive and polished instead of flat and boring? It’s called white space—and it’s the same principle high-end magazines use with their layouts. White space gives your outfit room to breathe, creates dimension, and makes everything look more intentional and put-together. Here are three easy ways to add white space to your outfits starting today: First, layer white basics like tees, tanks, or long sleeves under your sweaters so they peek out at the neckline, sleeves, and hem—this tiny contrast instantly adds depth to dark winter outfits. Second, pair a full black or dark outfit with a statement white or light-colored shirt with interesting details like bow collars, ruffle cuffs, or dramatic sleeves—the contrast makes everything look more expensive and less one-dimensional. Third, use light accessories like scarves, belts, bags, or shoes to break up solid colors and add visual movement. And here’s the thing: white space doesn’t actually have to be white—any light tone like pale blue, soft cream, or light grey creates the same effect. It’s about creating contrast, not about the specific color. This is one of the styling techniques I use with my 1:1 clients to help them shop their own closet and create fresh outfit combinations they haven’t thought of before—no shopping required, just smarter styling.
