🔍One of the most common questions people still ask about Gabby is: “Why didn’t she call her parents?” On the surface, it may sound like a reasonable question. But underneath it is something far more dangerous. ‼️This is victim blaming. When we ask why Gabby didn’t reach out, we unintentionally shift focus away from the person causing harm and onto the person trying to survive it. What that question ignores is what we now understand deeply about abuse: 📍Abusers isolate. 📍Fear escalates quietly. 📍Control doesn’t always look like violence, it often looks like silence. 📍Victims are constantly calculating risk, safety, and consequences. Calling for help isn’t always safe. It isn’t always possible. And it isn’t always survivable. Gabby didn’t fail to ask for help. The system failed to reach her when she needed it most. ✅That’s why the Million to One campaign exists. Because survivors shouldn’t have to make a phone call, say the right words, or be believed on the first try to access help. Million to One is about changing first contact, creating discreet, survivor-safe ways to connect people to support before it’s too late, without escalating danger or relying on perfect circumstances. When we stop asking “Why didn’t she?” and start asking “How do we do better?” real change becomes possible. This isn’t about hindsight. ❗️It’s about prevention. Stalking doesn’t always look like someone following you down the street. It can look like: • Location tracking • Hidden apps • Access to your messages • Knowing where you are before you tell anyone ➡️ January is Stalking Awareness Month, and many survivors don’t realize they’re being stalked until the control is already deep. 🟣 The hard truth: The technology used to harm is advancing faster than the technology designed to protect. 💟 We’re working to change that. Support the technology reform survivors desperately need. See the Campaign page at the link in Bio ** https://givebutter.com/gabbysmillion #gabbypetito #CVTR #stalkingawarenessmonth #reform

💜We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the community that surrounds the Gabby Petito Foundation. Across the country, and around the world, we stand alongside advocates, survivors, families, and professionals committed to change. From missing persons and Indigenous missing persons, to domestic abuse advocacy, survivors of murdered loved ones, strangulation prevention, first responder training, education, awareness, and the countless organizations working every day to support victims, this community is vast, courageous, and deeply connected. 💜As we close out this year, we do so in the midst of one of the largest and most meaningful initiatives we have ever undertaken: 🔆The Million to One Campaign, raising Gabby’s Million. This effort is about creating real, necessary, systemic change. Change that reaches every corner of advocacy we serve. Change that equips those on the front lines. Change that ensures survivors and families are supported when it matters most. We look ahead to 2026 with hope, determination, and anticipation for what Gabby’s Million can do in the world. 💜Thank you, for your support, your partnership, and the communities you have built. You continue to give our family and our foundation the strength to keep fighting for a safer, more informed, more compassionate world. 🦋Together, we can. “‘Twice as likely’ is one of the most misunderstood statistics in domestic violence research.” Studies are often misread to imply that survivors choose abusive partners again. The data shows the opposite! PREDATORS CHOOSE VICTIMS. Victims do not choose predators ! Please interact with our posts, give $1 or more to join our movement to fund building tech that works FOR victims of domestic violence https://givebutter.com/gabbysmillion In partnership with @victimtechreform #victimtechreform #domesticviolencesurvivors #GabbyPetito #CVTR
Last night, something shifted. We felt it. We saw it. 💜We’re grateful for it. This is how movements grow, when people refuse to look away. Thank you for giving your dollar. Thank you for sharing. Thank you for believing this moment can change. We’re just getting started. Give your dollar now if you haven’t to help push this mission forward! We are so humbled by the support last night! This image captures the moment police pulled Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie over. They separated them for the night, and then sent her back without support. Her life was ended just a few days later. No advocate. No resources. No guidance. No safe connection in the moment she needed it most. What if, right then, officers had the tools to connect Gabby to real help on scene? What if survivors didn’t have to wait until “later” or fall through the cracks entirely? That’s what M1LLION to One is changing. We’re funding survivor-centered technology so that every domestic violence call, no matter race, age, income, or status, has a path to immediate, safe support. 💜 One moment can change a life. 💜 One dollar can change the system. Give $1. Help make sure no survivor stands alone again. #CVTR #REFORM #GabbyPetito 👉 Check out the campaign M1LLION TO ONE on Givebutter! https://givebutter.com/gabbysmillion

We’re so proud to share something truly special 💜 Together with the Higher Hope Foundation, we were able to help Albany County SAFE Project fund a much-needed security gate for their facility, something essential for protecting survivors, staff, and the community they serve. This may seem like a small project to some, but for those who work in the field or have lived through domestic violence, you know just how big this really is. Safety is everything. When our team first visited SAFE Project a couple of years ago, we were shocked to learn they didn’t have a security gate, a basic safety measure that so many domestic violence programs rely on. Thanks to the generosity of Kendall Rae, her husband Josh, and their Higher Hope Foundation, we were able to make sure the gate was fully funded and completed. A couple of weeks ago, Joe had the honor of visiting SAFE Project alongside Kendall, Josh, and their incredible team to celebrate this milestone and see the impact firsthand. The day was filled with connection, gratitude, and hope, a reminder of what’s possible when we come together for a shared purpose. We are continually inspired by the work SAFE Project does for survivors of domestic violence. Their dedication and compassion make real change possible every single day. This collaboration is a beautiful example of what can happen when organizations unite with one goal, to create safety, awareness, and healing in honor of those we’ve lost and those still fighting to survive. #TogetherWeCan #GabbyPetitoFoundation #HigherHopeFoundation #SAFEProject #EndDomesticViolence @Kendall Rae @petitomom @Niki_Schmidt @Jim_Schmidt @Joe Petito
