Yet in those 3 years; -initially offered a place in MEng aerospace in Manchester -A-level results failed to meet conditions -conditional offer was rejected -offered a place in MEng matsci in Sheffield instead -appealed to scholarship to change course -flew to UK alone, not knowing a single person in Sheffield -forced to study a whole different course I have no interest in -struggled alone as ‘the only Malaysian’ in my course -failed first sitting in both 1st and 2nd year -struggled with depression and anxiety -failed to pass MEng requirement -appeal rejected by uni -forced to change to BEng -appealed to scholarship to allow me finish my degree in BEng -failed multiple job interviews -all uni part-time job applications were rejected -survived mental breakdown -graduated 2:1 with honors If I could turn back time, will I choose the same path again? Never really had a great childhood experience growing up with my ayah,, but he’s always available to watch me walk across the stages. One of the people who would travel 6720miles across the world to come and see me graduate. While spending time with him here,, travelling around England, I started to notice his subtle forgetfulness, strands of grey hair becoming more apparent, the way he gets easily tired from walking. Only then I realized.. he’s getting old. When did time goes by so quickly? I’m his youngest child but when did I grow up this much? Wdym I already have a degree?
