2016 was the year everything started to feel real for us. Farah was taking off on Instagram in a way we could not even process at the time, and our little brand went from “let’s see what happens” to “oh… this is happening.” Somewhere in the middle of all that, FARSALI crossed a million followers. Not with a big plan. Not with a strategy deck. Just a lot of showing up, experimenting, and figuring it out as we went. Suddenly our brand was showing up in places we used to read for inspiration. Seeing our name in Allure and Vogue felt unreal, like wait… how did we end up here? And then we got the call from Sephora. They reached out to us. They wanted to talk about carrying the brand and rolling it out across the U.S. I remember sitting there thinking, how did this idea we were building at home end up here? And then Unicorn Tears happened. At the time, it was just a fun, slightly risky idea that looked good, felt good, and made skin and makeup work better together. But watching it go viral, watching it sell out, watching brands everywhere start leaning into that skincare-meets-makeup world… it was one of those moments where you realize something changed, and you just happened to be standing in the middle of it. At the same time, life was still simple. It was still us. It was also our five-year anniversary, and I re-proposed to my wife. We were deep in the grind, building something we didn’t fully understand yet, but somehow we still made space for the things that mattered more than any launch. So yeah, if 2026 really is the new 2016… I’m not asking for the same story. But I wouldn’t mind that kind of energy again.
