Or any prominent UDP member for that matter. They'll translate "foreigner" to mean anyone who's not a Mandinka. If you're a Mandinka and you say this, you'll be received with "they think they own this country." Another thing. If "we have to verify the authenticity of some of these ID cards and how they [the holders] got it" then we also have to ask and verify what role the issuing authority had to play in that. As we speak, that issuing authority is flying to far away countries to issue ID cards to unidentified and unverified Gambians, in countries we supposedly have consular services. Any of these REAL issues need our collective effort to stamp out not only because it's a national security threat, but at a personal level, how much scrutiny do you wanna face because you're traveling with a document that has been flagged globally as the document of choice for criminals and traffickers (Gambian ID)? Suddenly being Gambian becomes synonymous with international crime. We therefore must ask, why do we fuss when UDP complains about such issues? This is not ethnic/tribal baiting. We have a growing cancer of anti-Mandinka bigotry in our country where the political space is being constricted to label any opinion from that group as motivated ONLY by entitlement and hatred of others, and it needs addressing. Finally. This land complaint is coming from the Minister of Lands? And his predecessor, famous for his dubious land schemes is still around, so where does the blame lie Mr. Minister? Easy to speak of problems, but who created it and who's gonna fix it? How you gonna fix it? Why is it still a problem under your watch? Al daa suba!
