Fire Forces Evacuation in Montreal’s Southwest A major overnight fire at the former Saint-Paul Church in Montreal’s Southwest borough led to the evacuation of about 150 people, including dozens of seniors living in a nearby residence. Firefighters from the Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal responded shortly before 2 a.m. as flames spread from the vacant church building to an adjacent seniors’ facility. Emergency crews issued a high-level alarm to control the blaze, while the Canadian Red Cross assisted displaced residents. No injuries were reported, and crews continued working into the morning to contain the fire. The historic church dates back to the early 1900s. #Montréal #montreal
