There was plenty of drama inside the courtroom for the Luigi Mangione case Friday, with the accused killer lashing out in court about double jeopardy as officers led him away. In an outburst that stunned the courtroom, a shackled Mangione yelled "One plus one equals two. This is the same trial twice. It’s double jeopardy by any commonsense definition." It came after a testy hearing that saw the judge, prosecution and defense all shouting. State prosecutors argued they should get to try Mangione first because if they don’t, the state’s double jeopardy law could come into play, which would prevent them from getting to try him entirely. "Double jeopardy is meant to protect people and they are using it as a weapon here," said defense attorney Karen Friedman Agnifilo. #nbc4ny #luigimangione
