The title of our current exhibition comes from Cruces by Justin Favela. Favela is a Guatemalan-Mexican-American artist from Las Vegas, Nevada. His work references his cultural heritage, and often serves as a commentary on issues such as cultural appropriation, art history, and queer identity. Favela is best known for his large-scale, colorful installations that use cartoneria (piñata making). Cruces was commissioned for the NMSU Art Museum, after Favela visited in 2020 for a Visiting Artist Lecture. #museumtok #nmsu #nmsuartmuseum #artmuseum #lascruces
