Finally got my hands on this little dream piece. Nessino Lamp — a little icon from the Space Age Designed in 1967 by Giancarlo Mattioli and the Gruppo Architetti Urbanisti Città Nuova, the Nessino lamp became a symbol of the Space Age era — with its bold curves, playful shape, and bright, futuristic look. It wasn’t just about lighting. It was about dreaming of the future.

Space Age design isn’t as popular today as Mid-Century Modern, even though it came just 10 years later — around the 1960s, during the height of the space race. Back then, the world was obsessed with space exploration. The moon landing, rockets, and sci-fi dreams sparked a wave of excitement. Designers and artists imagined what life in the future might look like — bold shapes, new materials, and out-of-this-world ideas. What I love about this era is how they imagined the future with the materials they had. Even though our future turned out different, that sense of wonder still feels magical today.

Lighting is one of the most underrated details in a space. In filmmaking, we hide light sources, tuck away cables so the light feels natural, almost invisible. But in real life, you can’t really hide it. So why not make the lamp part of the story? A beautiful lamp is more than just functional—it’s absolutely worth the investment.
