In this video, I break down how changing the position of your upper arm affects the length and activation of your biceps brachii, brachialis, and brachioradialis: Shoulder Flexion (Upper Arm Forward): Shortens the biceps brachii, targeting it in a more contracted state. Shoulder Extension (Upper Arm Back): Pre-stretches the biceps brachii, emphasizing its lengthened position. Upper Arm at Side (Mid Position): Keeps the biceps brachii in a neutral state. By adjusting your grip (e.g. supinated, neutral, or pronated), you can further target specific muscles: Biceps Brachii: Acts as a supinator and elbow flexor. Brachialis: A powerful elbow flexor, activated more in neutral grips. Brachioradialis: A forearm flexor, engaged in pronated grips. This video focuses on how upper arm positioning changes the length of the biceps at the shoulder joint, offering a deeper understanding of muscle mechanics for smarter training.
