There’s nothing quite like Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. What is it? A festival celebrating Punxsutawney Phil (a groundhog). If he doesn’t see his shadow it will be an early spring, if he does see, the winter will be longer — if you believe in the legend. There’s also fireworks, confetti, live performances! Where is it? Gobbler’s Knob, an hour-and-a-half drive from Pittsburgh. Why should I attend? There’s really nothing else like it. Thousands of people from all over the world attend this event, waiting on bated breath for Phil’s prognostication. #GroundhogDay #PunxsutawneyPennsylvania #Pennsylvania #PunxsutawneyPhil #VisitTheUSA 📸: @VISIT PA

When Frank Stelges, a nature photographer from Germany, first saw the Aurora Borealis on his bike in 2010, he was astounded. “It’s so different than anything else. It was moving and sometimes very slow and sometimes very fast. And you have the three dimensionality of these curtains really dancing over the night sky.” So astounded that he moved to Fairbanks, “Alaska totally blew me away and I fell completely in love. And it was clear that I had to come back.” Now a nature photographer, he says that when people see the Northern Lights it hits them deep and they begin to open up, talking about their lives, sharing from an emotional space. “I’m not creating the aurora, but I’m at that moment the one who helps see it, capturing it…creating lifelong memories.” The Aurora season runs August 21 to April 21 each year, starting planning your trip at the link in bio to see this jaw-dropping phenomena for yourself. @Travel Alaska
