🚨 A powerful, 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit #Afghanistan on late Sunday, August 31, killing hundreds of people and injuring or otherwise affecting thousands more. 🔴 This disaster is adding to multiple crises leaving millions hungry in the country: ▪️surging malnutrition ▪️forced returnees from Pakistan and Iran ▪️an intensifying drought ▪️a sharp decline in humanitarian aid due to funding constraints Moreover, some of the affected areas were already grappling with flash floods, and forecasts for the coming days indicate continued severe weather. 📦 WFP is initially delivering high-energy biscuits to communities to communities hit by the earthquake near the border of Pakistan - and dispatching mobile storage units to support the broader emergency response.

📷 We asked people to show us what life is really like near #Ukraine’s frontline. For families living less than 20 kilometers from the fighting, shops are closed, services are disrupted, and homes are damaged.   Yet, even in these difficult conditions, communities continue to endure.   Every month, WFP delivers food to 425,000 people in frontline areas, helping people survive where access to essentials is severely limited.

In📍Gaza, Mohammed serves as a Management Services Assistant at WFP while displaced, living with his family in a tent. Despite the hardship, he remains hopeful and continues to share his contagious smile. He feels he still has so much to give to the people of #Gaza and #Palestine. Humanitarians never take sides. They save lives. Under international humanitarian law, aid workers and supplies are protected. Attacking them deprives people of life-saving assistance. We urge those with power and influence to #ActForHumanity by ensuring safe, rapid and unimpeded passage of aid for people in need.

WFP welcomes the new commitments to improve the operating conditions for aid organizations in #Gaza. A massive surge in food assistance is urgently needed to reach all hungry people across Gaza, wherever they are, before it’s too late.

Gaza’s hunger crisis has reached new and astonishing levels of desperation. The international community must come together now to demand, and facilitate, the delivery of life-saving food aid to starving populations inside #Gaza. WFP is ready. We have the food, experienced teams on the ground, and proven systems in place to respond at scale. We did it before and we can do it again. The time to act is now. Let us do our job.

🚨 Everyone in #Gaza faces severe levels of hunger. We have the supplies, teams and capacity ready to scale up and reach those in need.

🚨 Millions of Sudanese refugees who have fled to neighbouring countries risk sinking deeper into hunger and malnutrition. WFP quickly mobilized to provide emergency assistance to refugees sheltering in📍seven neighbouring countries: Central African Republic, Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya, South Sudan, and Uganda. However, critical shortages of funding are forcing cuts to this life-saving assistance, and vulnerable refugee families have nowhere else to turn. WFP is urging the international community to mobilise additional resources to sustain assistance for Sudan’s refugees and the host communities supporting them.

For the first time since March, WFP food assistance reached families in northern #Gaza, where over 1 million people are sheltering. 🚨 The window to push back starvation is closing quickly. Families need food NOW.

Every day, we stand with the millions forced to flee. We remember that hunger and displacement know no borders - but neither does the resilience of #refugees. 💪🏽 WFP is by refugees’ side — from day one to recovery. When refugees arrive with nothing, WFP provides hot meals, nutrition for mothers and children, school meals and livelihood support. We turn solidarity into action.

Once home to 16,000 people, Dvorichanske in Ukraine's Kharkiv region now has fewer than 400 residents. Shelling at the frontline is only 7km away.

Airdrops are a last-resort solution to deliver life-saving food assistance to the most isolated communities, like this one in #SouthSudan ✈️ 👉 More support is urgently needed to help South Sudan reach hunger hotspots.
