Another short ad using real camera footage + ai Decided to try another hand at filmmaking and here's the breakdown of my process: 1) Hand draw storyboards to visualize exactly what camera angles and movements are going to be used for each scene. I used Adobe Photoshop + a drawing tablet for this part. 2) Then photograph the subject (myself) according to each camera angle you have listed on the storyboard. For example, if you have a low angle shot, photograph the subject from a low angle. Repeat this for every frame. These will later be used to train the Ai model as to what your subject looks like from every angle. 3) Use photoshop or Nano Banana to replace the backgrounds from the pictures you clicked, and add the background that your scene is supposed to be set in. I personally prefer photoshop as it gives you more control of how the background will be placed. If you have never done photo manipulation in photoshop before, you can try Nano Banana but the results might not be super accurate. 4) then record your subject (myself) doing the actions in every shot thats on your storyboard. For example, for the opening shot, I filmed my hands trying to lockpick a doorknob in my house. Once you have these shots, you can use Kling or Veo to capture the movements and then upload your reference pictures from before so that the Ai model knows what environment to put the subject in. From Storyboard to Raw images to Final short film. Here's how I used Ai tools to make 'SOLD'. 1) Wrote out a story and hand drew the storyboards with specific camera movements and angles. 2) Clicked a whole bunch of pictures and videos using my phone to match the scenes from the storyboards. I knew the props and backgrounds could be added in later using Ai, so just focused on capturing the subject (myself) doing different poses and actions that would later be referenced in the film. 3) Once I had an abundance of raw footage, it was easy to prompt and direct the Ai to generate camera movements. I used various Ai models for different scenes including Kling, Veo and Seedance. The biggest key is to do as much as you can before inputting images and prompts into the Ai. The outfits, credit card, main painting, painting label, and most importantly camera movements should all be done before you use Ai. This was just me exploring the various tools out there to see how far I can push it, and how close to a "Real" short film we can get to. Let me know if you would like an in-depth tutorial.
