I’ve been an animal mom on here for a long time, and now I’m welcoming a little human into it all, one who will help love and care for the animals that make this place home. I can’t wait to teach him what kindness to animals and to life really looks like. To help him understand and appreciate where food comes from, whether from the earth or from animals, and to let him get his hands dirty, whether climbing wood piles or splashing in our backyard creek. It was always meant for him. We intentionally left a gap in the field when we planted the fruit trees he will pick afternoon snacks from. We built this life with him in mind over the last five years. Dogs are too good for this world and my Keller is no different. She came into my life unexpectedly and at a time that I didn’t realize just how badly I needed her. The dog you get in your 20’s goes through so many changes with you. They see you as multiple different people, follow you through multiple chapters, relationships, homes, maybe adding kids, or too many additional animals if you ask her. And they just love you unconditionally through it. No complaints, just loyalty and love. People could learn so much from dogs. I’ve learned so much from my Kel.
