The Block is one of Fortnite’s most iconic experiments ever, and also one of its most controversial. It was Epic’s way of letting the community shape the Battle Royale map and have their own input, with new player-built locations being rotated weekly with the release of Creative mode. Dec 6, 2018: Epic announces The Block at The Game Awards 2018, revealing that Creative builds would be featured as a proper location on the Battle Royale island. It was an opportunity for the community to build the map with their own vision. Dec 7, 2018: The Block is added in-game the next day, replacing Risky Reels. A huge grey concrete platform appears on the map, and the first creator-built location, Grimy Greens, is added on top of the platform, starting the weekly rotation system which would feature mazes, deathmatch arenas, small towns, factories and so many more unique builds. Dec 2018 – Apr 2019: The Block quickly becomes a fan favourite location on the map. It created constant map changes, new loot routes, and a different feel every time you dropped there. For a while, it was one of the best “fresh content” ideas Fortnite ever had. Apr 9, 2019: A Block location, Mysterious Mansion, is removed after players discover a hidden, su***de reference inside the building's basement. The community begins questioning the safety of player built locations on the map, and Epic’s review systems. Oct 15, 2019: When Chapter 2 launches with a brand new map, The Block disappears completely. June 7, 2022: The concept returns during Chapter 3, Season 3 with “The Block 2.0”. Players could submit buildings to help replace and rebuild damaged locations in Tilted Towers, bringing back the community built idea in a more controlled format. Dec 10, 2025: The Block returns again in OG Season 7, but not as a full POI. It shows up as an easter egg off the edge of the map, like it missed its original spot and fell into the ocean, which is honestly the most fitting ending possible for Fortnite’s most chaotic location.

Important: c’est une estimation “réaliste” mais ça dépend beaucoup du pays d’audience, du type de contenu, et du niveau de vues qualifiées.
